The Best Thing You Can Do

Exodus 33:11
“Inside the Tent of Meeting, the LORD would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend. Afterward Moses would return to the camp, but the young man who assisted him, Joshua son of Nun, would remain behind in the Tent of Meeting.”
As a musical worship and praise leader, one of your jobs is to be in communication with the Lord and to reveal to the people what He is speaking.
To seek out what God is wanting to do in that moment.
In that service.
Then lead the people in that.

So, go with me here…
Let’s say Moses is the “leader” and Joshua is the “band”.
Notice that Moses speaks to God, then returns to camp.
Joshua stayed.

The point?

There will come a moment when the leader will need to “return to camp”.
They’ll need to lead the people in what God is doing.
Coach them.
Encourage them.

What do the rest of us do in that moment?

We stay
We stay in the presence of God.
We create an atmosphere of authentic worship and praise.
We worship and praise with our voices and instruments.
We play and sing to God.

The best thing you can do for your leader is to be in the presence of God.
The best thing you can do for yourself is to be in the presence of God.
It’s the best place to be.
